WE LOVE

For the love of jewellery

Words by Olivia Berry

Jewellery may not move in rapid trend cycles in the same way fashion does, but with each new year comes a new forecast of stylistic shifts. From classics to colours and cuts, read on to discover what to expect from your favourite designers in 2020.

Classics

If 2019 has taught us anything, it’s that the past is still as relevant as ever when it comes to design. Going forward, designers will continue to look back – classics like hoops, bangles and pendants have become mainstays – as brands make nods to the 90s, 80s and beyond, adding their own contemporary twists or updates.

Colour

Coral was king in 2019 (according to Pantone), but in 2020, things are taking a tonal turn. The shade of the year, classic blue, is a poetic and calming hue that you can expect to see permeating everything from jewellery to beauty trends and more.

Stones

Those spying engagement rings in 2020 may be upping their carat quota, inspired by a flurry of A-listers sporting their own multi-stone dazzlers (Meghan Markle’s three-rock number sparked a global love affair of its own). Designers are riding the wave, incorporating an array of cuts, clusters and sequences to their pieces, many featuring entirely encrusted diamond bands.
