Fashion Week kicked off the start of Spring/Summer 24 shows serving major declarations, refined signatures at spectacles.
With a broad range of style icons showing up to New York, London, Paris and Milan for fashion week, the cities had a strong start when it came down to street style – designers, celebrities and guests were sported in versatile and comfortable outfits while on warmer days, relaxed fit jorts saw a return. Overall, streetwear saw non-conformity at the centre of personal style.
While more often than not classic silhouettes like oversized blazers, tailored trousers and button-down shirts are the go-to chic choice, attendees also showed their willingness to dress up for the occasion. Sunglasses were the necessary accessory as were understated yet classy handbags, designed to not pull focus from the looks they accompany.
Take a look at some of the best street style, from New York to London, Milan and Paris fashion week below.
Double-Down On Denim
New York designers doubled down on denim this season. Beyond the classic trousers and two-pieces, the shapes were reimagined, spanning red-carpet-ready ball gown skirts and corsets and draped jackets.
New York designers have revived the 1990s this season, evoking a sense of nostalgia on the runway. Inspired by the parade of sophisticated slip dresses, the runways were masterclass in the art of “less is more”.
All-Black Summer Noir
The all-black colour palette dominated the SS24 collections of many New York designers. Keen to make this heat-absorbing hue suitable for summer? Consider designs in flowing, lightweight yet breathable fabrics.
Big Buckle Energy
When it comes to accessories, “Go big or go home” is strongly resonated on New York’s runways. Embrace this audacious accessory, slung low on the hip for a nod of Y2K or artfully cinching in garments to create sculpted looks.
