In Hong Kong alone, we throw away 340 tonnes of textile waste every day. It is exactly this approach to discarding fashion that gave birth to L.A.-based label Atelier & Repairs. By sourcing forgotten garments and reimagining a second life for them, the label aims to not produce anything new, but transform what already exists.

“Mending culture is growing in influence, while a new guard of makers is transforming old materials and garments into new pieces.” says Clare Press, Vogue Australia’s sustainability editor. “I believe it's more than a trend - it's here to stay. There’s something super satisfying about rescuing and repairing clothes, it deepens their stories. Good for us, and good for the planet.”
