Ashley Bellino and Jeremy Lebard - Stoned Crystals

Ashley Bellino and Jeremy Lebard - Stoned Crystals

What is your favourite funny memory as a couple?

Ashley: We met on this app called Happn. Jeremy took over a month to respond to my first messages on the app, and I tried to delete him as a match, but the app kept failing whenever I tried! I still think to this day that was a sign we were always meant to meet, but it isn’t the most romantic story to tell.

What do you like most about your partner?

Ashley: Jeremy is a very spiritual being and someone who likes to think outside the box. He is the eternal optimist, nothing is out of the question, and there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, or a lesson that talks to the bigger picture of life. He’s a creative thinker who is driven by soul purpose, an intelligent man with a gentle heart, cute froggy fingers and baby blues eyes.

Jeremy: Ashley has playfulness and the ability to help me connect with my inner child. I love that Ash can intuitively strive towards her own journey in life with the courage to make it happen.

What’s a nickname you call your partner?

Ashley: It’s not that surprising, but I came up with a goodie for Jeremy early in the relationship: Jem. It’s very fitting considering I have a crystal brand. I also sometimes call him “little elephant”, because he’s quite stompy in the mornings!

Jeremy: We were out on a walk in nature, and behind a woodpile flew out this beautiful tiny red bird. It would flap its wings and wiggle its tail and give you a little wink and then fly back out and disappear again. I looked at that bird and then at Ash and said you’re just like that bird, my “red-belly chickadee”. It became Ash’s nickname along with sugar, honey and all the sweet things.

What is your favourite memory as a couple?

Saasha: Our wedding day – absolutely the best day, celebrating with 38 of our closest family and friends in Positano, Italy. I’ll never forget the feeling of cruising around the Amalfi Coast in a vintage Alfa Romeo, dining under the stars on a private rooftop overlooking the ocean, then dancing into the early hours of the morning. Pure magic.

What is the best gift you have received from your partner?

Saasha: My Ceylon sapphire and diamond engagement ring that Sammy designed for me, and our British shorthair cat Dallas. Sammy surprised me with her one year, for our anniversary.

Sammy: It’s a tough one as all Saash’s presents are so thoughtful, but a few years ago she planned a trip to Paris for my birthday, and it was the most incredible few days. She also gave me an Acne leather jacket recently, which is amazing.

One sentence to sum up what you think contributes to a fulfilling, loving relationship?

Saasha: Find someone who brings out the best in you, makes you smile each and every day, who you can laugh with – and still gives you butterflies.

Sammy: I love Ferris Bueller’s sentiment: “Life moves pretty fast, if you don’t stop to look around once in a while, you could miss it.” So, don’t take life too seriously, enjoy every moment and go after your dreams together.

How did you meet each other?

Fiona: I was instructed by my doctor to do more exercise. I wanted to get a free gym membership, but to do so, I had to provide 10 friends’ phone numbers. One of them was Kain’s, and he was the only one that joined, so we started going to the gym together every day. He was trying to impress me by buying designer gym gear and drinking protein shakes. He started getting little muscles which was cute, but then we moved to Berlin and the exercise and muscles disappeared.

How did you spend your first date?

Fiona: Kain invited me to this fancy new hipster sustainable seafood restaurant in Melbourne, and he gave me a giant Kinder Surprise egg.

Kain: It was a bit out of my budget at that time, so in some ways this date set the tone of our whole relationship. The egg was cute though!

What is the best gift you have received from your partner?

Kain: Two birthdays ago I got this Jil Sander backpack that I pretty much haven’t taken off since.

Fiona: When we lived in Berlin my wisdom teeth were coming out, and I couldn’t eat any food. So Kain bought me a food processor together with a giant pumpkin for making pumpkin soup.

How did you spend your first date?

Ian: It was the date that neither of us wanted to end. It started with a long Japanese dinner, moved on to a wine bar, then to the beach. All drenched in beautiful conversation. I just remember thinking: “I want to talk to her for the rest of my life.”

What is the best gift you have received from your partner?

Ian: Books. Min creates these incredible photo books. Documenting times and events in our lives; they’re beautifully curated and written. She has made me a series of them over time, and I absolutely treasure them.

Min: I'm a lucky wife – since day one I’ve always been spoilt with lots of gifts picked with love. But I remember for one of my birthdays I came home very late after travelling for business. When I arrived, Ian cooked a traditional birthday noodle for me and lit up a candle on a very special stand that was a childhood gift from my father. It was a very simple gift, but it really touched me and warmed up my stomach and my heart.

One sentence to sum up what you think contributes to a fulfilling, loving relationship?

Ian: Respect, patience, kindness and time. For me, this is love.

Min: To understand, understand deeper; to love, love bigger; to grow, grow together.
