What to wear to the office this fall

Drama and complexity will rule the office in AW26. After a drought period of same-same beiges and creams in the name of "quiet luxury," we are now released from the sea of Brunello Cucinelli knock-offs straight into a cornucopia of florals, pleats, and volume. Go dark, go dramatic, go bold — but don't you dare go gentle into that bullpen.

Florals? For fall? Groundbreaking (no, actually)

Moody florals are one of the easiest ways to add intrigue to office wear this season. Try it in a print, as embroidered details on a jacket, or as part of a delicate lace layer for some of that dark femme power.

Flight mode (bomber jackets)

Updated from the green Alpha Industries MA-1 bomber that took social media by storm in 2016, you'll find this season's bombers to be your new star staple that works both in and out of the office.

Black is so back

We never left, baby. This year, all-black drama made a comeback on a great many more runways than the usual suspects (cough – Rick, Yohji); Fendi, Lanvin, Saint Laurent, and Issey Miyake all had blacked-out looks feature heavily in their shows. As our mothers would say, black goes with everything.

Oversized and double-breasted

As in blazers and coats. What were you thinking? Throwing on a giant, double-breasted jacket or coat adds an element of 80s power-dressing that will make you feel like the main character of a blockbuster movie — and its cash-grab sequel — at the same time.

Pleats

Asides from being extremely travel-friendly (business trips, we're looking at you), pleats are everywhere this season, from full-body looks to pared-back approaches.
