In the second part of our Individual Style series, Lucia Liu, Style Director at "Harper's Bazzar" China, gives us an education on how to own your looks - and let your style do the talking for you.

"My dogs names are Little Biscuit and Little Rice, I love them so much and they're very good company, and obviously they are keen on fashion and are getting very excited about the designer samples in my studio."

"I don’t talk that much but I wear a lot of colours and prints, the outfits I wear bring out another side in me."

Lucia Liu, style director and all round super-stylist may be a woman of few words, but when you have style and talent like she does, who needs to talk anyway?

Having become a constant on the Asian fashion radar for many years, Lucia recently captured the attention of the world with her spectacular series of portraits for “i-D magazine”, celebrating the diversity of beauty in China, shot with close friend and iconic Chinese fashion photographer Chen Man.

When we asked her about where the inspiration came from and what her fashion manta was, she replied with, "Always trust your own vision because no one else is as good as you are." With a mantra like this, it’s no wonder she's fast becoming known internationally for her unique vision and ability to create extraordinary stories through her images. She not only brings this assured confidence and creativity into her work, but transforms her everyday style with it as well.

Having recently returned from Paris Fashion Week, Lucia took time out of her busy schedule to invite us into her studio in Beijing, to answer some questions on style and tell us how to create new looks with key seasonal pieces in her individual way.

"The artworks on the wall are by one of my favourite artists, Ran Huang. Most of the books are related to fashion and art, and are from all over the world. I don’t have a favourite book; each one exists for a reason. I recently started collecting Art Deco jewellery books, which give a lot of inspiration. The metal table is a clinical operating bed that we used as a shoot prop, and we turned it into a book table!"

"This is an example of my sporty chic look. The top and sheer sporty silk trousers are both by a young London-based designer, Qiu Li, and I’d layer the Thakoon dress underneath the top. I’d finish the look with a hat from Zara, a neon Céline bag, and Yves Saint Laurent shoes (the most comfortable ever!)."
