In 2008 designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler created an accessory that became a pivotal part of their New York label’s success story. The PS1 was a satchel bag that officially invaded the wardrobes of women everywhere, from city girls in Shanghai to LA celebrities papped on their coffee run, and today, the original is considered a cult classic.

Fast-forward eight years and the designer duo are back with their most pivotal accessory collection since. 18 months in the making, the brand’s new handbags are thoughtfully considered, while projecting a sense of freshness. The bags are made with the Proneza Schouler woman in mind, in which the designers tell Lane Crawford exclusively is “always a bit undone, imperfect –she’s not fussy about her looks.”

The heroes are the ‘Hava’, a handbag evoking the PS1’s archetypal features, and the ‘Hex’, a bucket bag engineered as a triple helix. “We used just three leather panels fastened together at the base, and then hand-whipstitched together all the way up to create a cylindrical bucket bag,” explains McCollough.

Tipped to be the next must-have bag, Lane Crawford is offering the Hex in three worldwide exclusive versions, two medium bucket bags in saddle brown and grey and a saddle brown cross body. “We hope that it will become one of the pillars of the new generation of Proenza Schouler bags,” says Hernandez.
