GET TO KNOW
Thomas Wylde:
PAULA THOMAS hails from Birmingham, England, where she was scouted to model. Thomas was later cast as a BOND GIRL and featured in high fashion publications such as Vogue, i-D and The Face.
Thomas Wylde was first created in 2006, an homage to the designer’s WELSH background. The co-joined name comes from her father, Robert Thomas, and great grandmother, Catherine Wylde.
The Spring/Summer 2012 collection "DELICATE DEATH" was based on a simple idea, "How something so beautiful can be born from something quite grotesque," Thomas says, "a butterfly has a very short life span of 24 hours…something so fragile and delicate can have a spectacular existence."
How to rock it? "You can wear the S/S 2012 collection in so many ways," Thomas tells us, "Cocktail dresses are a must…and I like to think you can combine the soft lace looks with a slightly HARDER-EDGED shoe or bag for the perfect summer look!"
Celebrity starlets Angelina Jolie, Sienna Miller and Nicole Richie are all patrons of the label’s ROCKER aesthetic, but her favourite fan? "KEITH RICHARDS – he loves my scarves and I recently sent him the robe in silk with the butterfly, skull print in black and white!"
Thomas once worked alongside British bad boy Julien MacDonald, co-designing during his reign at the house of GIVENCHY, following Lee Alexander McQueen’s departure.
The S/S 2012 collection incorporates subtle tones, "I decided to use MUTED LAVENDER and DOVE GREY, which gave a real sense of lightness…I always seem to stick to a very clean colour palette of white, black and grey, so adding lavender gave it a feminine touch."
Thomas Wylde is best known for its SKULL-PRINT chiffon dresses and scarves, "My use of skulls each season is my biggest challenge," Thomas says, "they are always in fashion regardless of trend."
The devil is in the details for spring. "LACE is an important part of this collection because of the weave – at closer glance, you can see the henna skull woven in, sending the perfect Thomas Wylde message, that rock is everywhere!" Thomas exclaims.
Thomas knows her NATURAL SELECTION. "My design process is a collection of genres, ideas and textures. I tend to lean towards the dark, and then try to bring in light softness…I am very good at committing to what can stay and what has to go."

"I can only sum up my collection based on my idea of life, death and how delicate we all are!" Thomas tells us. And with her sophisticated, light, punk chic looks for spring, we couldn’t agree more.
