Global Exclusive: Ffixxed StudiosThe local label collaborates with Parisian dancer Bouboo Thecrow for Lane Crawford
Ffixxed Studios has always done things differently. Founded by designers Fiona Lau and Kain Picken and based in the heart of Shenzhen’s mountains, the couple mesh artful ideas with minimal pieces that are hand-created by a family of seamstresses in their local community.
In this global exclusive collection for Lane Crawford, the duo created a selection of pieces that extend their workwear-oriented Autumn Winter 2017 collection. “A white shirt, a tapered trouser, a long wool coat and puffer jacket feature subtle shifts and details. Recently, we’ve been interested in dance, particularly Parisian dancer Bouboo Thecrow. His individual style mixes urban and formal elements, and have formed the inspiration behind these pieces,” says Lau.
“Bouboo is from Paris but is currently based in Shanghai. We’ve been following him online and when we found out that he was based in China, we were even more intrigued and decided to get in contact with him,” she explains.
His unpredictable yet elegant moves have mesmerised Ffixxed Studios: “Dance can elicit such a powerful emotional response, and we can watch his videos for hours with a consistent level of enthusiasm.” This beguiling combination of beauty, art and movement has led to a series of elegant wardrobe pieces that speak volumes.
