Beyond The White Cube

Art pops off the gallery walls and into your home with Lane Crawford’s latest special collaborations in honor of this year’s ARTHK, the fourth annual Hong Kong art fair.

As the newest collaboration with “Faux,” a local design studio, Lane Crawford premieres a series of ceramic cups designed by eight diverse Hong Kong artists. The everyday mug becomes a blank canvas for each artist’s unique vision, from the lyrical photography of Wai Kit Lam to the dark collage-work of Ho Sing Tung. Chow Chun Fai is best known for his paintings of Hong Kong film freeze-frames, and here takes on the equally iconic symbol of a red taxi-cab. Conceptualist Magdalen Wong offers an ephemeral visual puzzle, while painter Richard Winsworth renders a retro-modern cityscape. Globe-trotting Yuk King Tan reflects on fast-changing Chinese tradition, Cary Kwok applies a comic sensibility to her eye-popping graphics, and Lam Tung Pang evokes the hybrid landscape of Hong Kong. Each cup is limited to an edition of 300 - don’t miss a little splash of art in your morning coffee.

UK artist Rob Pepper is best known for his “Drawing Diary”, minimalist drawings of daily life and the modern condition, and has exhibited worldwide with his signature outlined style. For an exclusive Lane Crawford limited edition, Pepper captures the Hong Kong skyline and its stunning contrasts. Paired with his recent drawing of the Manhattan skyline, these pieces are rendered as exquisite prints on glass, and make a diptych tribute to the urban jungle.
