With a style that is deeply rooted in the East Coast fashion scene, photographer Mark Griffin Champion - who started his career working at New York’s Milk Studios - looks to the Newton and Avedon photographer era as a source of inspiration. “They knew photography, the fundamentals. If you know the craft through and through you can shoot anything,” says Champion. “I strive to create images that you want to keep rolling over with your eyes. It might be the shadow on the subjects face the first time you view it, then you see their gaze, then the highlight on the cheek, or a perfect gradient shadow in the background. I like to single out my subjects with a beautiful light source and let shadows fall where they may.”
