How to: Say A Thousand Thank You’s Say it with words - an etiquette guide to thank you notes

Words by Harriet Quick

  1. In the unwrapping frenzy make sure you have a notebook at hand to record who gave what to whom. If you are in big gathering, designate someone to be the ‘official’ keeper of the 2017 present logbook. As you pile through that mountain of presents, you will be forever grateful.
  2. Delegate an ‘official’ unwrapping snapper and record those OMG moments of glee. Print out the best to include in your correspondence.
  3. Gather friends and family for a thank you writing session over mulled wine and make sure to post those notes before the New Year.
  4. Make sure you have addresses to hand. Emails and texts do not suffice.
  5. Write on monogrammed stationery or enlist your children to hand paint cards. If your sentiments are taking a while to form, practice on a piece of scrap paper.
  6. Make reference to your beautiful present and plan the next rendezvous.
