This Christmas, consider an alternative to the traditional gift box with our line of bento gift boxes. The creation of The Stalk Room’s Maurice Chia, each box features a handcrafted floral arrangement – full of mini firs, poinsettias, Christmas cactus and other festive floral and fauna - which doubles as a stunning table décor. This is all in part of The Stalk Room’s vision to create ‘living works’ that not only provide a touch of greenery to home décor but also only look better with time.

“The stackable bento gift boxes are inspired by food tiffin carriers and the Japanese lacquer bento boxes,” says Chia. “The idea was born out of functionality and practicality. The boxes can be repurposed for other uses in the kitchen, study or any space.”

Each box provides an element of surprise that the recipient finds hidden below the plantscape such as a unique piece of fine jewellery, a gift voucher, or even a personal handwritten letter.

Having lived many years in Italy, Chia has fond memories of the Christmases he has spent there. “Christmas in Italy is more about the company than the gifting. It’s days upon days of get-togethers, eating, drinking and merry making. But what is the perfect gift for me? A good friend.”
