Pitti Uomo 88 Highlights
Our recap of one of the most stylish moments in menswear
The Fair
An insider’s look at the collections to note for the season to come
Tateossian
In line with Pitti’s overarching theme, Tateossian introduced a lively burst of colour into its signature pieces. This season it highlights “Manimal”, a series of moving lapel pins encrusted with Swarovski crystals, inspired by mechanical creatures, that took two years to complete.
ISAIA
For the coming season, ISAIA found inspiration from the 1970s Neapolitan Power movement, embodied by protagonist Lucio Amelio and artist Andy Warhol, whose paintings provided the dynamic colour palette for the season. We loved the brand’s use of innovative fabrics, including exclusive water-resistant and naturally stretchy materials.
Lardini
The Lardini showcase typified the classic Riviera dream with its casual yet refined aesthetic. Embodying the season’s soft tailoring style, Lardini championed lightweight pieces in an iconic palette of white, blue and beige. Of particular note was the tone-on-tone styling and ombre effect fabric made with a special printing technique.
Babette Wasserman
Jewellery designer Babette Wasserman delivered a collection of accessories that are “as colourful as your mood”. True to the brand’s experimental style, the cufflinks range extends from mother of pearl classics to eclectic contemporary styles like scooters and socks.
The Streets
Lane Crawford captures the best of Pitti’s street style with photographer Julien Boudet
Mad About Colour
There was no shortage of colour on the streets of Florence, as attendees wholeheartedly embraced this year’s theme. Red appeared to be the hue of choice, demonstrated most notably in monotone outfits and in the form of bold graphic prints. Take your cues from the industry’s finest by pairing a bright tie with a neutral suit for a burst of energy.
The Classics
From double-breasted suits to effortlessly placed pocket squares and perfectly cropped pants, there is no better showcase of menswear classics than at Pitti.
Bag Check
The accessory of choice was a sleek yet practical bag. From document cases to structural briefcases and sophisticated backpacks, it was all about marrying function with style.
Summer Swing
In tribute to the fine Florentine weather, show-goers displayed the best of their summer style with tropical-inspired prints, relaxed fits and lightweight fabrics like linen in pale hues.
