From expertly cut pique polo shirts to sophisticated knitwear, Façonnable’s French Riviera heritage imbues each piece with a distinctive sense of European elegance. Founded in the 1950s, its new Artistic Director, Daniel Kearns, launches his debut collection this season, fusing a tailored approach with the signature Façonnable DNA.
Having designed menswear at the esteemed fashion houses of Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and Louis Vuitton, if there’s one thing this Dublin-born designer knows well, it’s what constitutes the perfect men’s wardrobe pieces.
From its inception, Façonnable has placed precision cutting and luxury fabrics at the very core of the brand, cementing these qualities as design characteristics that have stood the test of time. In the mid 1970s, the brand created the “Facorain”, a waterproof membrane lining still found in Kearns’ collection today. Crafted in Europe, each piece embodies an understated refinement that fits seamlessly into the contemporary gent’s arsenal. Think plush cashmere sweaters, clean wool suits and luxe leather jackets.
This season, Kearns focused on refining the brand’s French Riviera aesthetic for the modern gent. The result is a collection of pieces that you can’t imagine how you went without. It’s sportswear with a heavy dose of tailoring. Look out for details like soft construction, braiding and a subtle play on textures and colours.
Head to the Mediterranean coastline this summer and explore Kearns’ list of favourite places in the Côte d'Azur.
