Midi Skirt
The midi maintains its reign at the top of the style stakes this season. Topping our most-wanted list is the high-waisted pencil version, preferably covered in a print or embellishments, the epitome of ladylike luxe. Designers also opted for sheer fabrics, which give the illusion of longer legs.
Tailored Coat
This season’s cover-ups are about making a statement, and there’s nothing more iconic than a beautifully cut coat. For autumn, shapes are inspired by razor-sharp men’s tailoring, with double-breasted styles in precision cuts. New proportions such as rounded shoulders, controlled volumes and longer lengths add a couture touch to this everyday staple.
Knit Essential
This season, designers made the impossible possible with looks that fuse comfort and cosiness in one. It’s all about head-to-toe knitwear – with special attention to the layered tunic and trouser silhouette – at Céline, Haider Ackermann and Marc Jacobs. A more wearable alternative is the luxe sweater: cable knits, Fair Isle patterns and fur accents dominated the runways.
