“When I was a kid, I was always cutting up jeans and jackets to make something else” says the Paris born, London dwelling designer, Faustine Steinmetz who later learnt wool weaving skills by watching You Tube videos. The serial innovator honed her obsessions at Atelier Chardon Savard design school in Paris before completing a Masters in print at Central St Martins. Denim and workwear remain a fascination for the 32-year old who works from a converted wood factory in North London.

Her drive is to recreate ordinary garments in an incredible array of fabrics - think of recycled jeans embedded with 60,000 Swarovski crystals or a hand shredded boiler suit - and she presents her one off work in surrealist installations during London Fashion Week.
