Here’s a test: walk past a Proenza Schouler swishing, pleated dress or a feathery knitted something and try not to touch it. Impossible. Factor in a jolt to the optic nerve via their bracing colours and abstract prints and the affect is doubly arresting.

Design duo Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez deliver clothes that have vigour. It’s a love of experimentation (they recently learnt a few new crafts in old Parisian couture ateliers); the thrill of happenstance combined with technical knowhow that helps them re-create season after season. Fearless and playful are two qualities that make for great fashion - their designs make one feel connected, alive and more often than not, the subject of fascination.

Try an asymmetric pleat dress with a blown-out snake print and a wrap round bodice; or an ‘80s flashback stripy sequin skirt or a monochrome layered party dress add a stacked up platform sandal or whip-stitched bucket bag and you will feel that rare thing - sophisticated and wild in one go.
