The second of our ‘On the Sofa With’ series takes place among the iconic, sculptural and sometime celestial works of the British designer Tom Dixon. The creative director of the eponymous design studio, Dixon has become synonymous with metallic materialism and timeless functionality across lighting, furniture and accessories. Working tirelessly against the grain of fashion-led, throwaway culture, Dixon's vision has become an increasingly utopian one: to decrease consumption and produce design products that are sustainable through their durability and timelessness.

We sat with Dixon inside his London studio, shop and restaurant as he talked to us about how design can help us to live better.
