With the motto “back to craft”, family-owned homeware company NAP has been combining timeless design with modern quality for a decade. Founder Anita Czerwińska, whose husband works in furniture production, started with a collection of upholstered beds, which led on to mattresses and bedding. “From the start, NAP’s ambition was our own collection that would encourage Poles to improve their sleeping habits,” she says. NAP’s branch in central Warsaw, in a building that once housed Poland’s communist-era censorship office, also stocks interior items by Polish designers and leading international brands, from organic cosmetics to durable kitchen items. “These accessories supplement our ideology: good quality, good design and natural materials,” Czerwińska adds, pointing to how the company favours small-scale, transparent and sustainable production, with many items made out of cotton, linen or wool. From the ground-floor room, a treasure trove of design-inspired gifts, stairs lead down to one showcasing larger furniture, from upholstered sofas to wooden tables; a third room is dedicated to the bedroom. Pick up unique ceramics from the shop’s “Found in Poland” range or a rich woollen throw that will pass the test of the central European winter – or go straight for one of NAP’s plush beds, complete with all the trimmings.
