Here’s how to throw a Miami party.

Colour Clash

Be extravagant in your choice of colours - art deco pastels, vibrant neons, stripes and polka dots, tropical florals, fuchsia pink and palm green all emit positive fun-loving vibes.

Cocktail Life

Shake up a choice of three cocktails. The classic Margarita is a must, while the Mojito, with lashings of crushed ice; fresh herb and flower trims topped off with an umbrella and novelty stirrer will have your guests embracing the ‘vacay’ spirit. For an authentic Miami flavour, the Caipirinha is the mojito’s stronger and shorter older cousin. As the perfect finishing touch, deck out your bar staff in Miami Vice-worthy Cuban shirts, shades and shorts, you can never take a theme too far in our book.

Party Platters That Get The Party Started

Relish in the Florida locale. Whole lobsters and crabs served on trays of ice, giant prawns with Rose Marie cocktail sauce, tubs of ceviche and slaw, mini burgers, chopped salads in tortilla shells will keep your guests fired up for the dance-floor. Serve mini ice cream cones and tubs of watermelon with fresh mint at midnight.

Dress Code

Miami Fever should set the tone. The host might don Thom Browne’s lobster seersucker jacket and the hostess a Johanna Ortiz ruffled party dress. Encourage head-to-toe colour, mixing up pastel pinks with neons, ocean blues and palm green. For accessories - look to Charlotte Olympia and Sophia Webster’s tropical styles and top off with a gargantuan pair of dangly earrings.

Fun & Games

Hand out underwater cameras and invite your guests to take pictures. Install a roulette table with surprise prizes. Stage a dance off: the winner will love a blow-up flamingo. Draw up a Miami trivia quiz and let the competitive sparks fly. Games are only as wild as your imagination.
