Skin Laundry is all about simple routines and solutions that work – attitudes that come from the heart of the company’s founder, Yen Reis, who applies the same approach to her personal beauty, fitness and wellness routines. Here, she shares her daily skincare regimen, how she gets energised and makes time for down time with Lane Crawford.
On how it all started
“I struggled with hormonal acne as a young adult and spent years searching for a treatment that would correct my skin issues. While living in Asia, I discovered laser and light treatments which changed my skin and how I felt about it. I was hooked and wanted to share my discovery with the world which is how Skin Laundry was born.”
On naming her brand
“I wanted the brand to have a name that is associated to cleaning skin on a regular basis. Everyone does laundry on a regular basis and laundry is about achieving clean results every time. Which is exactly what the Skin Laundry treatment does - deep cleans every time.”
On her daily beauty routine
“As I use Skin Laundry on a regular basis my skin routine is very basic. I believe clean skin is the basis of healthy skin so I always recommend a great cleanser, particularly at night before you go to bed. I also love a good sheet mask at least once a week. I find it relaxing and I always feel it gives my skin an instant boost.”
On in-flight beauty
“The key to long flights (I regularly take the Hong Kong to Los Angeles route) is clean and hydrated skin, so I always travel with a Skin Laundry facial cleansing cloths and hydration mask. I find cleansers hard to use in tiny airline bathrooms so the wipes are perfect for cleaning my face. When the lights go out after meal service I put on a hydration mask for 10 minutes to add moisture back into my skin.”
On fitness and refuelling
“I enjoy running. It allows me to unwind and escape from my busy schedule of work, kids and life in general. After a run I feel like anything is achievable because I have the energy to do it! For snacking, I love to dip pretzels or carrot sticks in hummus or I make myself corn rice crackers with avocado and turkey. Not only delicious and healthy but they also keep me full for longer.”
On setting work goals
“Each week I have goals which I try to achieve. I learnt early on that if you set too many goals and look too far ahead things can get very stressful very quickly. Working this way allows me to stay focused and makes my job less stressful and more enjoyable.”
On making time for downtime
“My family is my priority and I work hard in my professional life to keep it that way. I have learned to be very efficient so I can be with my family more. My favourite relaxing activity is throwing on a Skin Laundry sheet mask and watching the National Geographic channel with my boys with a nice glass of red wine.”
