“I always select destinations rich in flora and fauna to rebalance my soul” says Simona Finelli, Creative Director for “athluxury” label NO KA’OI, which combines high performance textiles and couture techniques. Travelling provides necessary inspiration in the form of cultures, people, habits and language for Finelli, Hawaii’s natural wonder and beauty holds a special place in her heart.

Finelli wouldn’t be the only designer who is inspired by seashore vacations - the idea behind the Next New brand Short Sentence’s Global Exclusive collection with Lane Crawford is about the feeling of an ocean-side holiday. As founder of Short Sentence, Lin Guan’s travel often inspires cool, contemporary fashions that can last all year round and “live beyond seasons and trends”. The Parson’s graduate, art-lover and ex-Vogue China intern, Lin follows a conscious ethos of versatile, timeless pieces, designed with good vibes and plenty of colour blocking. Lin goes on to explain that “getting to know new local cultures” provides a constant catalyst for creativity.

What the ocean does for one’s soul does something else for another. For Solid and Striped, the sun and the sea are ingrained in its DNA, translating into a capsule of global exclusive swimwear for Lane Crawford hinting at a sense of nostalgic romance. Its simple, elegant and timeless styles are meant for those who always have some sand stuck to the bottom of their luggage.

And who wouldn’t want that? That seems like a good problem to have, in light of what you would get on the upside: inspiration, healing and even self-discovery. To begin your journey of rejuvenation, all you need is a passport and an adventurous spirit.
