Perfectly considered party attire deserves perfectly considered party hair too. Unfortunately, constant trips to the salon, or slaving away at home with blow dryers and hair straighteners, aren’t the most welcomed tasks on a party-filled weekend.

Instead, try a timesaving transitional hairstyle that unravels into new looks sans heat tools or too much styling. The result? Three holiday hairstyles as easy as uno, dos, tres.

Day One Plaited Pony

Hong Kong-based hairstylist Dennis Tsui created this look by calming flyaways with smoothing hair oil before pulling hair into a pony that’s “slightly off centre for a modern, relaxed take. Next, braid the ponytail three quarters of the way down and secure with an elastic.” An optional step: Leave a small strand of hair loose from the braid and wrap it around base of ponytail for an ultra sleek finish.

Evening One Braided Bun

Perfect for an evening occasion that calls for a little more effort, transition your pony into an elegant braided updo. “Simply circle your ponytail around the top of the pony’s base and secure with into a bun with bobby pins, making sure the finish is neat and clean,” says Tsui. Leave braid intact when you go to sleep.

Day Two Tousled Waves

Undo braid and shake out your hair. “Using a wide toothcomb to detangle hair and part hair on the side with a 30-70 proportion. Try scrunching hair gently to perk up limp pieces, and mist with a texturisng spray,” says Tsui. Depending on your hair’s natural texture, your locks will unravel with either soft or bouncy waves.
