Floral Notes Talking Spring blooms with Ellermann’s Diane Nittke
With three floral heavy hallmarks - Valentine’s Day, Lunar New Year and Spring - all fast approaching, there is no time more apt for sprucing up your flower game.
Ellermann Flower Boutique and Event Atelier founder and florist, Diane Nittke - who offers a series of global exclusive arrangements just for Lane Crawford Pacific Place home store - gives us some insight and inspiration into gifting, and decorating, with blooms.
On the inspiration behind Ellermann’s Valentine’s Day arrangements…
“Our red arrangement draws inspiration from the classic declaration of love and romance with its bold and classic colours but re-interpreted with unusual ingredients, making it modern and with aspects of surprise. Our teapot arrangement takes a more playful approach - with pastel colours for an informal setting. It could also be used as way to declare your love to your mother, rather than a partner.”
On the best three ways to choose the perfect Valentine’s Day bouquet…
“Firstly, consider who the recipient is - take into consideration their style, personality and taste. Secondly, think about the occasion - will you gift the flowers in a romantic setting in a restaurant or are you sending them to the work place or home? Lastly, take inspiration and learn the secret language of flowers to make your bouquet unique.”
On the inspiration behind Ellermann’s Lunar New Year arrangements…
“The key flowers are Anthurium, Gloriosa and Dancing Lady. The inspiration came from taking the colours from a spectrum of festive colours from gold to orange and yellow and giving it a modern take with lots of movement and texture. Gloriosa resemble bells for ringing in the New Year while Dancing Lady adds movement and texture to the arrangement.”
On her favourite spring flowers…
“Sweet peas. These fragrant flowers have a really charming shape - they almost look like they are dancing which adds life and layers to the bouquet. They are also delicate and portray an innocent and pure form.”
On her favourite way to create the feeling of spring at home…
“Having budding flowers that smell like spring such as Hyacinth and Narcissus or blossoming branches are favourites of mine. These resemble a new start for the new year. Bright and vibrant greens also bring lively and joyful emotions to create that feeling of spring!”
