One could say that it was the face that launched a thousand home accessories. Back in the 1950’s Milan-based artist Piero Fornasetti stumbled upon the image of Belle Epoque opera singer Lina Cavalieri in an old magazine and re-imagined her now-iconic face into dozens of enchanting iterations.
The accidental muse continues to live on in Fornasetti’s most renowned pieces. Now, under the directive of Barnaba Fornasetti, the son of the house’s founder, Piero who founded the Italian label, Fornasetti remains as special and as unique as ever.
“A Fornasetti piece is not a simple object: it can communicate with those who are still naturally good at perceiving and it can console people from life’s modern troubles,” says Barnaba Fornasetti.
Every detail on each porcelain object, accessory or piece of furniture has been printed, lacquered and coloured by hand, a focus that is so intent on perfection that it in turn limits production to the masses. Each year, an increasing number of loyal Fornasetti fans and design connoisseurs are placed, with bated breathe, on a waiting list for the most sought-after pieces.
And its no wonder, as each piece has become a modern design classic. Own your own, and become part of the legacy.
