Lane Crawford Profiles Aquazzura

It only launched in 2011, but newcomer label Aquazzura has already made its presence felt in the fashion world. Worn by a series of iconic women, these cult styles have acquired a following.

Aquazzura Behind the Brand

Born in Colombia and raised between London and Miami, Edgardo Osorio cut his teeth working for fashion legends Salvatore Ferragamo, Sigerson Morrison, René Caovilla and Roberto Cavalli. Armed with 10 years’ experience in the industry and an acute understanding of designer craftsmanship, Florence-based Aquazzura is the culmination of a decade of passion and dedication to Osorio’s craft.

Aquazzura In Conversation with Edgardo Osorio

The Aquazzura woman is sophisticated, elegant and travelled. She loves fashion, has a taste for beautiful things and wants to enjoy life.

This season is all about fringe. I was inspired by Dallas and American cowboys and my Autumn/Winter collection is full of it done in different ways: feather shapes, micro-fringe, studded, mixed with snake and nappa leather. It feels very now.

A signature Aquazzura shoe fits like a glove, is always very sexy and strappy and makes your legs look amazing.

Style your Aquazzura shoes with everything! Most of my styles go easily from day to night and can be worn with jeans and a T-shirt or a cocktail dress. The Sexy Thing booties or the Belgravia flats are a very good example of this.

On a first date, a woman should wear her sexiest, most beautiful shoes. You never have a second chance to make a first impression.

A go-to pair of shoes should be comfortable, sexy and easy to style with anything. I love the Sexy Thing booties so much because they work with almost any look.

Moving around the globe from Colombia to Miami and London has made my style a big mix of cultures. I always say my shoes have Italian style, with Latin flair and American ease.

If I wasn’t in fashion I’d be a plastic surgeon. I love making women more beautiful.

My ultimate muse is Giovanna Battaglia – she is the perfect example of the modern Italian cool girl. That’s what I call modern Dolce Vita style.

The best spot to people watch in Miami is Casa Tua. It’s a private club and restaurant decorated by one of my favourite interior designers in Italy, Michele Bonan. It’s a cool place to go for dinner and stay for drinks.

The best spot to wait for the rain to pass in London is high tea at Claridge’s. It’s very old school, but such a great, classic experience.

The best gelato in Florence is from Gelateria La Carraia in Ponte alla Carraia. It’s right in front of my house and next to the river. I love to get a gelato in the summer and stay by the bridge to watch the beautiful Florentine sunset.

My favourite memory from growing up in Colombia is having lunch in the sea in the Rosario islands near Cartagena. They put tables and chairs inside the water so when you sit at the table, it’s just slightly above sea level. It’s a very cool and unique experience.
