The late Gianni Versace’s eponymous line, Versace, was created in 1989, and has since been helmed by his sister Donatella Versace. Known for its strong fashion-forward identity and overt embrace of Italian sexuality and femininity, Versace is not only historically pioneering but the must-see show each season in Milan. Versus, Versace’s sister line, was reintroduced by Donatella in 2009, and continues to embody its original rock’n’roll spirit of hard-edged dresses and separates. For Versus, Donatella asked talented Central Saint Martins alum, the British design wunderkind Christopher Kane, to help design and re-launch the brand. “Christopher has shown that he has talent and his design sensibility is in tune with the original spirit of versus,” Donatella said of her protégé, “so he was the perfect choice.”
