Born to a Danish model/fashion editor mother and Italian fashion veteran father, Vanessa Bruno was always destined for a life in fashion. Launching her first womenswear collection in 1996 aged 24, Bruno quickly became known for her “easy clothes for difficult girls” style that included trapeze dresses, asymmetric blouses, oversized cardigans and draped overcoats. Her elegant use of plush cashmere, soft silk, diaphanous chiffon, sheer jersey and rich wool showcase her mastery of blending exquisite materials and creating tactile looks. Clever tailoring, sophisticated urban edge and a luxe-casual demeanour has made Vanessa Bruno very accessible for women — many of who try to mimic the designer’s own chic city-girl style. In 1997, Bruno launched her younger diffusion line, Athé , featuring delightful, fresh, easy-to-wear wardrobe essentials, and has also launched a line of basics under Vanessa Bruno Basics.
