In 2006, Toms shoes was founded by intrepid traveller Blake Mycoskie on an inspirational trip to Argentina. Created out of pure charitable passion, Mycoskie donated one pair of shoes to children in Argentina for every one pair of Toms shoes purchased, under the “One for One” movement. Mycoskie based his designs off of the beloved Argentine alpargata shoe. Today, Toms shoes work across multiple charitable fields in more than 20 countries, and the brand has expanded to include other styles of feel-good footwear, including botas, cordones, stitchouts and wrap boots. Toms has been awarded the People’s Design Award from the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in 2007 for its innovation, in addition to the 2009 ACE award for corporate social responsibility by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
