Repetto

Madame Rose Repetto began making ballet shoes in 1947, at the request of her dancer and choreographer son, Roland Petit. Soon, her designs attracted enormous attention in the ballet world and went on to be seen on the feet of top dancers, including Baryshnikov and Nureyev. A decade later, the Repetto brand stepped into the French fashion scene after Brigitte Bardot ordered a custom-made pair of crimson slippers to wear in the film, “And God Created Woman.” Following more recent design collaborations with the fashionable likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Rei Kawakubo of Commes des Garçons, and Yohji Yamamoto, the brand became fully established as an iconic French footwear label, bringing the luxurious flat shoe to a new discerning audience. Today, still handcrafted in its historic workshop in the Dordogne region of France, Repetto’s classic slippers have been synonymous with chic, laid-back style and timeless, sophisticated grace. Fans include Sarah Jessica Parker and Hillary Clinton.
