Raquel Allegra

Los Angeles-based designer Raquel Allegra started her fashion career from the shopping floor up, working as a department store retail associate. After persistent enquiries from customers about her homemade T-shirts and unique outfits, Allegra decided to take a leap forward into the world of self-taught fashion design. She instantly made noise in Hollywood, when she repurposed used prison uniforms and transformed them into organic and wearable scarves, shredded T-shirts and dresses. Since then, her beautiful distressed tops and oversized boyfriend sweaters have gained a legion of devoted followers, including style icons such as Madonna, Mary-Kate Olsen, Nicole Richie and Penelope Cruz. Armed with an innate sense of ethereal design and artistic sensibility, which has since expanded to include richly textured pieces such as deerskin and cashmere, Raquel Allegra is the princess of deconstructed femininity.
