Kors by Michael Kors is synonymous with classic American sportswear and his large range of easy, casual shoes. Launched in 2004 by New York-based fashion design icon, Michael Kors, the easy-to-wear line consists of fashion staples that mix classic and modern style. Kors began working in fashion at an early age, assisting with merchandising and design at New York City’s Lothar’s boutique. In 1982, after graduating from Fashion Institute of Technology, he founded his namesake line of comfortable, elegant womenswear, and shaped a luxurious uptown look. His immediate success saw him named the ready-to-wear designer and creative director for the French fashion house, Celine, from 1997 to 2003. Kors’ contribution to the American fashion scene has been recognised multiple times by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, who awarded him “Womenswear Designer of the Year” in 1999 for his Michael Kors Collection. In recent years, the designer won reality-television fame as a judge on the “Project Runway” show.
