When Japanese designer Junichi Abe, a graduate of Bunka Fashion College and Comme des Garçons alumni, set up Kolor in 2004, he decided that a very simple concept would prevail over his seasonal collections for men and women: “To produce items that have optimal balance in every aspect, from fabrics to patterns, prices, mood, zeitgeist.” To achieve this goal, the designer always begins a collection with devoted attention to exquisite fabric selection and rigorous hand-made craftsmanship. Appropriately, Kolor is famed for its unique cuts and fits — drapes, pleats, layers, exaggerated architectural silhouettes are key — as well as its use of incredible quality and textured fabrics.
