Established in 1952 by the Egyptian-born Gaby Aghion and her business partner Jacques Lenoir, the French fashion house Chloé was one of the first proponents of prêt-a-porter, or “ready-to-wear” – an alternative to the more formal options traditionally offered by couture brands. From the very beginning, Chloé was marked by high-quality clothing in fashionable, youthful designs, and has been helmed by some of the most revered names in fashion — including Karl Lagerfeld, Martine Sitbon, Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo, Paulo Melim Andersson, Hannah MacGibbon, and now, Clare Waight Keller. As a graduate from London’s Royal College of Art, Keller has worked for Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford at Gucci, and was creative director of Pringle of Scotland, a role she stepped down from in March 2011. At Chloé, Keller will undoubtedly continue the brand’s legacy of romantic and feminine designs, stylishly undercut with youthful freshness and sophisticated modernity.
