Opening Ceremony was established in 2002 as a global fashion and lifestyle entity that switches nations of celebrated designers yearly. Launched in New York by Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, with the idea of bringing their love of travel and fashion to a concept boutique and leading showroom, Opening Ceremony has since branched out with stores in Los Angeles and Tokyo, as well as its own self-branded lines of ready-to-wear fashion for men and women, plus footwear. Championing high fashion with avant-garde sentiment and creative smarts, Opening Ceremony is revered for its impeccable taste, edgy style and daring attitude. Collaborative design has been a key aspect of Opening Ceremony’s retail philosophy, in Spring 2008, Opening Ceremony launched an ongoing design collaboration with the style icon and actress, Chloë Sevigny. Inspired by her early days in New York, high school vintage finds, and her own closet, the line delivers playful and young feminine designs that reflect Chloë Sevigny’s distinctive style, much like Opening Ceremony’s core foundation.
