Cadolle

With 115 years of invention and experimentation behind the French fine lingerie house, Cadolle is famed for its handmade corsets that boast comfort, fashion and sexiness. There are six generations behind this family-run brand, founded by Herminie Cadolle in 1889, who inventively cut the corset into two parts to create the first modern bra and innovatively used rubber thread to stitch underwear. Her daughter-in-law Marie ran the Paris boutique, developing the business as the bra became the new everyday underwear. Next in line was Marguerite, who turned Cadolle into a luxury brand company — creating the “boyish form” bra for Coco Chanel and invented the first seamless underwear. Her daughter Alice took the Cadolle brand into American department stores in the mid-1900s; while Poupie developed its reputation as “the perfect underwear;” and her daughter Patricia, who joined the company in 2003, is securing the company’s place in the contemporary world of exquisite French underwear.
