Launched in the Spring of 2006 by the set of fashionable twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, The Row began two years ago when Ashley Olsen initially set out to design “the perfect T-shirt”. Over time, their high-end label has grown to incorporate many other fashion pieces. Ashley Olsen explains that their vision of The Row has “been nothing short of perfect: a line that makes every woman look her very best, offering extremely high quality, easy-to-wear pieces and combinations that are at once modern and timeless”. The silhouettes may be minimal and avant-garde at the same time, with exaggerated proportions but in traditional fabrics or drapes. The colour palette doesn’t stray far from black, white, cream, and grey, but pops of bright colours may be seen every now and then. The collection reflects the Olsen twins’ desire to be noticed and concealed at the same time, as they have lived their lives in the limelight their entire lives.
