ADIDAS BY STELLA MCCARTNEY
Designer Overview:
As the daughter of ex-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney and rock-music
photographer Linda, the vivacious Stella McCartney always had an
extraordinary life. Aged 15, she interned with fashion heavyweight
Christian Lacroix. At her graduation from Central Saint Martins in 1995 —
attended by her super-famous parents and modeled by her friends Naomi
Campbell and Kate Moss — she hit the headlines when influential global
retailers snapped up her final collection. In 1997, she was appointed
creative director at Chloé, succeeding Karl Lagerfeld. There, she
revealed her love for delicate, feminine clothing, creating a definitive
mood of sophisticated beauty, sensuality and romance. By 2001, she
launched her own fashion house with the Gucci group. Having worked with
Savile Row tailors during her earlier years, fine bespoke cuts and
structured shapes exquisitely blend with pretty designs, playful
cheekiness and street-savvy attitude to create her strong signature
style. And in 2004, the “adidas by Stella McCartney” collection was
launched. A strict vegetarian, anti-animal-cruelty campaigner and
organic advocate, all her products — including accessories, shoes,
lingerie and beauty lines — are fur- and leather-free and ethically
conscious.
This Season: Stella McCartney’s Spring 2010 collection is all about vibrant colours,
exuberant prints, stripes and florals, taking on French-inspired and
tropical elements.
