In 1975, a young Canadian art student named John Hardy travelled to Bali and was overwhelmed by local making-making heritage and their master artisans. The young man fell deeply in love with Balinese techniques like Rantai (woven chain) and Tenun (woven mesh), which he would bring back with him along with memories of the island’s stunning natural gifts. John Hardy jewellery breathes a mythical tribal elegance in tandem with the symbols of Balinese landscape, like bamboo, beach and jungle or even water-smoothed stones that line the banks of a stream.
