Designer Overview: British brand Jas M.B. is internationally known for its understated, practical and beautiful handmade leather bags and accessories. Founded by the African-born, Indian-raised, London-based Jas Sehmbi, the designer first established his name back in 1993, producing the first-ever nylon DJ bag. By 2000, he moved away from working with nylon and canvas to launch his exclusive Jas M.B. line for men, producing luxury accessories that boasted exquisite craftsmanship and used fine Italian leather that was dyed and treated in-house. From 2004-2009, he ran the Doors by Jas M.B. boutique in London’s Soho district, offering a one-stop-shop for quality womenswear, menswear, footwear and jewellery. Today, following special collaborations with the likes of Givenchy, Katharine E. Hamnett and Topshop, Jas M.B. bags and accessories for men and women are highly regarded worldwide for their trademark weightless construction and quality English handcraftsmanship.
