Designer Overview: Budding New York-based jewellery designer Chris Habana has mastered the
art of taking dark, gothic elements and reinventing them to create
iconic, pop talismans. Since his eponymous line’s debut in 2004, Habana
has made contemporary jewellery with playful edge and subversive
attitude, famously mixing light and dark, precious with punk, brash and
beautiful. “The people who wear my pieces are usually a bit more on the
harder side,” Habana says of his followers, which include musical
genius, Björk. “The charms are definitely aggressive, whether they take
on a pop or gothic element. ChrisHabana is definitely an ‘in your face’
type of line.” His own personal style — “a little rock, a little rave,
always homemade” — perfectly surmises the look of his unique creations.
