Designer Overview: Since first launching her eponymous line in 2004 from her uptown Manhattan apartment, with talk show queen Oprah Winfrey declaring her as the “next big thing” in fashion a year later, Tory Burch has become a classy, classic American icon, offering an attainable, luxury lifestyle for women of style. Mixing Upper East Side poshness with Palm Beach pizzazz and retro inspiration from the 1960-1970s, her signature pieces — including day shifts, sequinned party dresses, colourful holiday kaftans, embellished cardigans, chic leather clutches and logo ballerina flats — are rich in quality and eclectic in sensibility. Having garnered her fashion know-how from years of doing PR for Loewe, Ralph Lauren and Vera Wang, Burch set out to fill a void in the market for a sophisticated American aesthetic at an accessible price point. In 2005, she received a Rising Star Award from Fashion Group International and in 2008, was crowned Accessory Designer of the Year by the CFDA. Today, her collections of ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes and jewellery — designed with her trademark usage of graphic prints, bold colours and ethnic detailing — are coveted by women of all ages.

This Season: For Spring/Summer 2010, Tory Burch indulges in abstract prints, tie-dye patterns, bright pop hues, intriguing textures and shimmering effects — and creates an eclectic look by mix and matching them all up together.
