Designer Overview: The alice + olivia collection was launched by New Yorker Stacey Bendet
in 2002 — the culmination of years of her trying to find the pair of
perfect pants that had an ultra-flattering fit and stylish retro vibe.
Bursting onto the hipster fashion scene as an almost overnight
phenomenon, the playful, loveable line caught the eye of Andrew Rosen,
founder of Theory, who soon became a partner in the company. With
Bendet’s quirky sensibility and urban edge, alice + olivia is
sophisticated and youthful, boasting easy-to-wear sleek and chic pieces
that range from sexy sequin dresses to structured coats and laid-back
slouchy sweaters. “Whether it’s a pant, T-shirt, or pair of shoes,”
Bendet says, “I want to make a girl feel sexy, smiley, beautiful and
happy every time she puts on a piece of my clothing. It’s about a
fabulous fit and a chic silhouette, always.”
This Season: “The Power of the Female” inspired the Spring/Summer 2010 collection at
alice + olivia. Full of sexuality, cleverness and charm, the range
includes chic city dresses, small floral prints, embellished tops and
structured jackets.
