Designer Overview: Always in tune with the city-girl zeitgeist, Chinese-American designer Alexander Wang has created a consistently identifiable look of casual urbanity that juxtaposes street with luxe, sexy versus androgynous, vagabond against modernist. Favouring a clean, classic, luxurious and refined silhouette, easy everyday style is Wang’s fort�. Born and raised in San Francisco, Wang moved to New York at age 18 to attend Parsons School for Design, and take up internships at Derek Lam and Marc Jacobs, plus Vogue and Teen Vogue magazines. Dabbling in his own cashmere and knit basics range during his sophomore year, he boldly launched his full women’s collection in 2007. In 2008, Wang won the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America/Vogue Fashion Fund award, as well as a grant from the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation. His distinctively irreverent yet wearable style for contemporary women celebrates individuality and sets the bar for edgy, urban elegance.

This Season: Alexander Wang’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection is spirited with all-American sporty zeal, fused with inklings of timeless and classic designs. Look out for hooded and utilitarian outerwear, vintage-leather jackets and chic sweats.
